All services can be arranged as a one-off provision or as a series, for example monthly, quarterly or annually.
Taking account of the legal framework, the approach of the Charity Commission and others, The Charity Governance Code and best practice, I help in problem solving, prioritising, risk management, decision making, managing conflicts, resolving difficulties and transformational admin.
As well as advice on specific issues, I also offer a regular ‘sounding board’ service. You may not always have the time or inclination to research the answers to specific challenges or queries, so I can meet you at regular intervals, such as monthly or quarterly, in person or via phone / video, to discuss any governance concerns you may have. This way, you can always share your challenges and be reassured.
Challenges can be daunting: deciding the optimum projects, order and timescales to deliver effective outcomes; facing a significant challenge or navigating through one; or considering a collaboration or merger. I can help you plan and manage a way through.
Charity leaders are never too experienced to learn. There is a complex journey in learning governance, every charity is different and the requirements keep changing! So, whether you’re a new trustee, in need of a refresher or want to learn something new, training will help.
For example, I can deliver training on Governance Essentials: covering the core principles and requirements for charity governance, including strategy, decision making, risk management and overseeing the charity’s operations, finances and reputation. For new or prospective trustees, this will start your understanding of the complex landscape of charity governance and for those already serving this will be a reminder of the fundamental aspects. The training can be as tailored as you need.
As well as focussed one-off sessions, such as governance essentials, I can also offer training in a series. This can be adapted to suit your needs, so you could have different people attending on different occasions to focus on particular topics like trustees’ responsibilities, policies, Charity Commission dealings, decision making and risk management.
Continuous improvement is a common aim but a rare experience. One-to-one coaching can be a way to help you bridge this gap. Coaching can also be used to address particular challenges: specific needs can be addressed by a tailor-made programme.
Speaking to someone outside your charity can be a catalyst for change and exponential improvement. Without the subtle pressures of everyday requirements and in an atmosphere of nurturing empathy, you can discover meaningful solutions.
