Chris helps charities of all shapes and sizes. He specialised in charity law for most of his 30 years as a lawyer, helping trustees and senior teams navigate a great range of issues.
He now focusses on governance and his particular interests are trustees’ decision making, strategic change, risk management, tackling projects and internal systems of transformation. As a trustee himself, he understands how to solve problems and make decisions.
One of his main strengths is appreciating the specific challenges of each charity, so he can steer trustees and senior leaders in addressing those challenges.
He can see through complex issues in order to help you come to pragmatic and clear solutions.
Chris has written and spoken widely on charity governance. He co-wrote The Informed Trustee course, published by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and has written the legal content for books on trading and fundraising by charities published by the Directory of Social Change.
He has practised as a barrister and solicitor, led and operated in teams before becoming a consultant, and retains the analytical skills and team working experience of this first chapter of his career. Over many years, he has been a volunteer, fundraiser and trustee for many charities.
In his leisure time, Chris likes hiking and running trails and mountains, participating in ultras, and writing poetry.
